Choosing an office pod looks simple until you start: phone booth or work pod, two people or four, budget or premium, felt or fabric, white or pastel. This guide takes you through the decisions in the order we work through them with clients. It covers how the space is used, how pods fit into a floor plan, what drives the price, and how to choose colours that suit the interior.

We supply 31 acoustic office pods across four ranges: Maxi Office Pod, MusePod, HushOffice and Bubliing. That means we can recommend the right pod for the brief rather than the only pod we have. If you’d like everything in one document to share with colleagues, you can download the Office Pods Product & Pricing Guide 2026 as a PDF.

In a hurry? Phone booths solve the most common problem, calls and video meetings disturbing the open office. Two- and four-person meeting pods take pressure off booked meeting rooms. Start there, and use the rest of this guide to refine the choice.

1. Start with how the space is used

The best pod is the one that matches what people actually do. Before looking at models, spend a few days noticing where the noise and the queues come from.

  • Calls and video meetings at desks are the number one complaint in open-plan offices. They call for phone booths or work and video pods.
  • People hunting for somewhere to concentrate call for single-person work pods with a proper desk, good light and power, so someone can stay for an hour, not five minutes.
  • Meeting rooms booked for two-person catch-ups are a sign you need small meeting pods. They’re quicker to build than a room and free up the large rooms for larger meetings.
  • Hybrid teams need screens and good on-camera lighting, so look at the pods with integrated screen mounts.

As a starting point, many workplaces plan around one phone booth for every 10–15 people, then add work and meeting pods based on how often meeting rooms are full. A few well-placed pods usually achieve more than one large meeting room in the same footprint.

2. Choose the type of pod

Every pod we supply falls into one of six categories. Here’s what each is for, with every pod in our collection grouped by type and price level.

Phone booths

Compact, standing or perching booths for calls of up to around 20 minutes. They take roughly a square metre of floor space, so they fit almost anywhere: near the end of desk banks, by breakout areas or along a corridor. If people regularly stay longer than a quick call, choose a seated work pod instead.

Work, focus and video pods

Single-person pods with a desk and seat for longer calls, video meetings and focused work. The HushHybrid and HushFree Hybrid add a screen mount for hybrid meetings. The MusePod MD 1.5 offers a height-adjustable desk option. The Bubliing Twin places two workspaces back to back in one footprint.

Meeting pods

Two-person pods suit one-to-ones, interviews and quick catch-ups. Four-person pods suit team huddles and client calls. Larger 6–8 person pods can replace a traditional meeting room, without the building work. The HushMeet L is modular, so its length can be set to suit the room.

Accessible pods

Accessible pods are designed with wider doors and enough internal space for a wheelchair user alongside other people. If you’re adding meeting pods, including at least one accessible pod keeps the space inclusive for everyone.

3. Check it fits the floor plan

Pods are free-standing, so there’s no building work, but a little planning avoids surprises on installation day. Our site survey covers every point below. It helps to know them before you shortlist.

  1. Footprint and clearance. Allow space around the pod for the door to open fully and for people to walk past comfortably. A pod pushed into a corner with the door against a desk won’t get used.
  2. Ceiling height. Most of our pods stand between 2,230 mm and 2,320 mm tall. Check there’s enough height above for the pod and its ventilation, especially under bulkheads, beams or low ceilings.
  3. Access route. Pods are delivered in panels and assembled on site, so they can usually go through standard doors and lifts. Large meeting pods still need a clear route and enough working space to build them.
  4. Power. Each pod needs a power supply nearby for its lighting, ventilation and sockets. Floor boxes and nearby wall sockets usually work well.
  5. Fire safety. Pods can be supplied with cut-outs for sprinklers, alarms or fire suppression on request. Check with your building manager early, as a specialist team may need to fit the devices.
  6. Light and location. Glass-fronted pods near windows feel open and bright. Put phone booths close to where calls happen, and meeting pods where people won’t walk through a quiet area to reach them.

4. Understand the acoustics

Every pod we supply is tested to ISO 23351-1, the international standard for speech level reduction in office pods. Our pods reduce speech by between 28 and 30.3 dB. The MusePod and Bubliing ranges are rated Class A, the highest classification.

In practice, at around 30 dB a normal speaking voice inside the pod drops below the background sound of the office about a metre away. That’s enough for confidential calls on a busy floor. A higher figure gives more privacy, which matters for HR conversations, legal or financial calls, or pods sited close to desks. Ventilation matters too: a quiet, well-ventilated pod is one people will happily stay in.

5. Set the budget: how office pod pricing works

Pod prices depend on the range, the size and the specification. We group our ranges into three price levels to make the conversation easier.

What every quote includes

Every quote includes delivery, installation by our own fitting team, a site survey, waste removal and aftercare, with a five-year warranty. There are no surprise extras for getting the pod into the building and built.

What changes the price

  • Size and range. A phone booth costs less than a meeting pod, and the range sets the price level.
  • Quantity. Multi-pod projects and rolling programmes are priced accordingly. Tell us the full quantity up front.
  • Finishes. Most finishes are standard. Some HushFree colours and premium fabrics carry an upcharge.
  • Options. Height-adjustable desks, lift tables, screen mounts, extra furniture and fire safety cut-outs are all added to the specification.
  • Site and access. Out-of-hours installation, difficult access or multiple floors can affect the installation cost.

For the most accurate price, send us the pods you’re interested in, the quantity and the delivery address, and we’ll come back within one working day.

6. Choose colours and finishes

Finishes turn a pod from a box in the corner into part of the interior. Here’s how we help clients choose.

  • Decide whether the pod should blend in or stand out. White, light grey and soft neutrals sit quietly in most offices. Navy, green or a pastel make the pod a feature and help with wayfinding (“meet me in the green pod”).
  • Take the cue from the interior. Match the exterior to the joinery, walls or furniture, and pick up your brand colours inside, where the fabric is seen up close.
  • Think about light. Light interior fabrics make small pods feel bigger and brighter on camera. Darker fabrics are more forgiving in busy, high-traffic spaces.
  • Consider privacy. Frosted glass, available on HushClassic and HushFree, gives more visual privacy for one-to-ones and confidential calls.
  • Try it in 3D. Use our 3D office pod configurator to try every exterior, fabric and finish on any of our pods, then send us the specification for a quote.
  • Look at real samples. Colours on screen are only a guide. We can send physical samples, or you can see the finishes in person at our Clerkenwell showroom.

8. How we work with you

Our team has specialised in office pods for more than six years. Every project is coordinated by our dealer partner, who works directly with you from first enquiry to handover, and our own fitting team carries out the installation. If you already have a furniture dealer or fit-out contractor, we’re happy to work through them. Either way, we’ll answer any questions along the way.

You’re welcome to visit our showroom at 29 Clerkenwell Road, London EC1M 5TA, Monday to Thursday 9.30 to 17.30 and Friday 9.30 to 16.30, by appointment. Sit in the pods, close the door and hear the difference.

How much does an office pod cost?

It depends on the range, size and specification. Budget pods such as the Maxi Phone Pod and MusePod are the most cost-effective. HushClassic sits in the mid-range, and HushFree and Bubliing are premium. Every quote includes delivery, installation, a site survey, waste removal and aftercare. Send us the quantity and delivery address for an accurate price.

How many phone booths does an office need?

Many workplaces start with around one phone booth for every 10–15 people, then add work and meeting pods depending on how often meeting rooms are full and how much of the day people spend on calls.

Do office pods need building work or planning permission?

No. Pods are free-standing and assembled on site, so they can be moved or taken with you. They do need a power supply nearby, and sprinklers, alarms or fire suppression can be accommodated on request.

How long does it take to get an office pod?

From under a week for the Maxi Phone Pod when it’s in stock, 6–8 weeks for HushOffice, 8–10 weeks for Bubliing and around 12 weeks for MusePod.

Can I see the colours before I order?

Yes. We can send physical samples, or you can see the pods and finishes at our Clerkenwell showroom by appointment.
